About Sxwchálten

Sxwchálten Kevin Rivers is a proud member of the Squamish Nation who has spent decades quietly supporting the strength, healing, and growth of his community. Raised by Frank Rivers Sr. and Tiyáltelut-T Audrey Rivers, Kevin comes from strong lineages on both sides of his family. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Rivers and Sarah Jane Longcake, and his maternal grandparents were Xwechtáal/Xwupúkinem Andy Paull and Teresa Lacket-Joe.

Kevin’s life has been shaped by a commitment to service—whether behind the scenes or in formal leadership roles. He has worked across many areas that contribute to the wellbeing of our people, including governance, healing, education, and Nation-led development. Over the years, Kevin has supported community planning, financial oversight, and program delivery with a steady and thoughtful presence. His work is informed by a deep respect for Squamish teachings and a belief that strong leadership is grounded in humility, transparency, and responsibility to future generations.

He is known for his ability to listen, ask the hard questions, and show up when it matters most. Whether helping review budgets, supporting language and culture projects, or lending his voice to ensure that decisions reflect community needs, Kevin leads with care and integrity. He has served on committees and advisory groups and worked with youth, Elders, and staff in a way that builds trust and relationships over time.

Kevin believes in the power of informed members and accountable leadership. As he steps forward once again, it is with the same quiet purpose that has guided him all along: to stand up for the people, protect what matters, and do the work with honesty and heart.
